This feat cannot be achieved through government initiatives alone. It requires equal contribution from the private sector as well. Abstract: Value added tax (VAT) is most common indirect tax, a consumption tax designed to increase tax revenue of government. The government will be in position to execute her laudable projects for well-being of the citizenry. The VAT was introduced in Nigeria in 1994. Available data showed that VAT revenue to the government from 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 were ₦564,890 million, ₦659,160 million, ₦802, 700million, ₦802,700, ₦803, 000 million, ₦767, 300, and ₦ 828,200 million respectively. It seems growing, but definitely not in tandem with expected economic reality in Nigeria, especially if purchasing power is considered. The questions are: How has the VAT helped in minimizing Nigerian government borrowing? Can be concluded at 5% Vatable rate in.......

Abstract: Economic growth is one of the important macro-economic objectives of Nigeria and this study examines the impact of money supply on the growth of the Nigerian economy. The research was anchored on theclassical quantity theory, Keynesian theory and the Monetarist theory that provided justifications for the conceptual and empirical discussion. This research employed ex-post facto design. It adopted the neo-classical production model and applied econometrics techniques to time series data. All estimations were performed with econometrical software called EVIEWS version 9.0. Empirically, the result showed that money supply is not significant in the short-run. In the long-run money supply is significant but has a negative impact on economic growth. The causality test showed that money and economic growth are independent of each other, meaning that there is no predictive power of money supply in explaining the economic growth and vice versa. Thus, increment in money supply is incapable.........

Abstract: This study analysed credit constraints on adoption of modern technology among groundnut farmers in Hong Local Government area of Adamawa state, Nigeria. Data for this study were collected through the use of structured questionnaire. The regression variables that were statistically significant in influencing credit accessibility were level of education, distance between lenders and borrowers, perception of lending procedure, cost of borrowing, security of collateral and association membership. Moreover, in determining adoption of modern technologies were farmers' age, cost of technology, income level, farming experience, access to modern input, credit accessibility and number of extension contacts. Lastly, the ANOVA result showed that the mean square were 11.631 and 1.240 between and within groups respectively. The study recommended that adequate extension services should be provided to promote demand for modern technologies and link the farmers to financial institutions to access credit facilities, which will enable them adopt improved technologies for higher productivity.

Abstract: The fight against poverty is increasingly at the centre of debates, seminars, symposia and workshops on economic and social development policies. This issue is of equal concern to the governments of poor countries and to development institutions. Despite their various efforts under the HIPC1 initiative, poverty rates remain high in sub-Saharan African countries. This analysis is a review of the relationship between public spending and poverty: the case of the WAEMU2 zone.
